LENGTH: 75 or more minute
TIP 01: A screenplay is many things, but most importantly, it is supposed to accurately portray what we see over time. Each page needs to be a minute of time that passes in the completed production, That means each line represents about one second, it’s your job to guide the readers mind through these images while keeping your words concise to fit the time.
“Trying to make a feature film yourself with no money is the best film school you can do.”
“It’s funny how the colors of the real world only seem really real when you watch them on a screen.”
LENGTH: 0:01 – 60 minutes
TIP 02: There are two types of writing, writing for what you can produce now and writing where anything is produced by a big studio. Make this decision before you begin.
There are only 24 hours in a day, and my top priority is working on my films, but I love short film experiments.
But short films are not inferior, just different. I think the short gives a freedom to film-makers. What’s appealing is that you don’t have as much responsibility for storytelling and plot. They can be more like a portrait, or a poem.
