POETRY
He’ll Let You Buy
An old woman gave to me
a gift of needing
her daughter offered me
one that heals
a gift of needing
her daughter offered me
one that heals
Don’t want a thing,
don’t need a thing
she said to me without using words
I remember all the little things
you never thought I would
but life has a way of changing
fast fast fast
Water expands as it freezes
she’s a heavy weightless
floating on the salty arms of the sea
Surely freedom is a good thing
surely one will miss
a full human experience
requests all there is
so the sky will pour
lord knows I have today,
you want to free the soul?
it’s with the body you pay!
Life’s long, to deaths short
you’ll see in a winking eye
toss a coin to the man of the dock
and he’ll let you by
on salty, salty waters. Salty
Salty, the salty waters. Salty
Salty, the salty waters
He’ll let you by,
He’ll let you buy.
