POETRY

This is a song about how we are all waiting for the end of time so we might as well enjoy the time we have.

Given to We

all VERSE I
I’m just walking and singing
Making the most of the rain
Watching the plants grow
And the water flow
Right underneath my feet
Doesn’t feel so sweet
Wouldn’t you like to eat
A fresh head lettuce
Tomatoes and carrots
Don’t be a parrot
All of these things
Are given to we.

VERSE II
I’m just laughing and humming
making the most of the sun
and watching the flowers bloom
in mid-afternoon
don’t they smell so sweet?
wouldn’t you like to be?
Because everyone wants one
ten or a dozen,
would you please
get one for me?

VERSE III
I’m just laying and curled
making the most of the cold.
Feeling my bones grow old,
Reminiscing on that mold
of all the truths I once knew,
Gee, ain’t it funny?
it was never the money,
has time has shown,
everything’s grown.
All of these things
are given to we.

VERSE IV
I”m patiently waiting
for all time to end
and then i think it ought
be followed by an age of thought
likely to happen or not
if it were certain
I’d help draw the curtain
Did I hear and amen?
Let it begin.
Did I hear an amen?
Let it begin.

VERSE Ia
until then we’ll walk and we’ll sing,
make the most of the rain
Watch all the plants grow
And the water flow
Right underneath our feet
Take joy when we eat
Tomatoes and carrots
Don’t be a parrot
Say your own thing
Cause it’s given to we
We’ve got a voice
It’s given to we.
