POETRY

Little to Lose is the fourth feature film that I wrote and certainly one of my closet. Having a father that passed from cancer, it was a tough subject to take on, but one worth it for the psychic release. I want to feature music from Oklahoma to give this film a place and time so I decided to write one of the songs too.

Little to Lose

VERSE I
i was living in place i didn’t want to be
I was dreaming dreams I wanted to see
I was working for nothing but money
I was acquiring all these things
people tell me it’s upward
people tell me it’s upward
people tell me it’s upward
don’t look down
VERSE II
the load has grown so heavy
trading away my body
i had a million little keys
to doors and locks hidden from me
unlock one, find another
unlock one, find another
unlock one, find another
i want to be free
CHORUS
just when you think that you’ve so much to give
you realize you’ve little to lose.
just when you think that you’ve so much to give
you realize you’ve little to lose.
VERSE III
People taking more than they’re giving
i’m guilty too if that’s sinning
self obsessed eyes locked on winning
vampiric tendencies are trending
i get lost in philosophy
what’s the point in reality?
Maybe cancer is karamicly
collecting debt from humanity
VERSE IV
I wonder if we really get to choose
fate sucks sure, yeah, but so does the news
I met an old man who sang the blues
he told me I had so little to lose
a broken voice, an old guitar
shitty weed, and a beat up car
had a secret, kept it close
had a reason, no one knows.
CHORUS
just when you think that you’ve so much to give
you realize you’ve little to lose.
just when you think that you’ve so much to give
you realize you’ve little to lose.
OUTRO
Life is warm, life is cold
Life is youth, life is old
Life is black, life is white
Life is day, life is night
Life is love, life is alone
But life is not a stone.
